What a brand identity is and why your business needs one
· Juan Carlos Lacruz
Your brand isn't just a logo. It's what people feel and remember about you. Here's what it's made of and why it wins you customers.
Many people think "having a brand" means having a nice logo. The logo is just the tip of the iceberg. Brand identity is everything that makes people recognize and trust you.
What it's made of
- Colors. A coherent palette that conveys your character (warm, premium, natural…).
- Typography. Letters speak too: they say whether you're classic, modern or artisanal.
- Tone. How you talk to your customers, casual or formal, warm or sober.
- Consistency. So everything —website, social, quotes— looks and sounds like you.
Why it wins you customers
A coherent brand builds trust, and trust sells. When everything fits, the customer perceives professionalism and seriousness without you having to prove it with words. When it's a jumble of colors and styles, you convey improvisation.
It's not about budget, it's about judgment
You don't need an expensive agency. You need well-made design decisions applied consistently. A small business with a clear identity competes head to head with much bigger brands.
The first step
Before designing the website, it's worth defining the brand: what you are, for whom, and how you want to be perceived. It's exactly where I start every project. Shall we look at yours? Write to me.
